Selling an early 1950s Alexander 163 CC tuba with 5 valves. I bought this horn from another member here on the forum.
The pitch on this particular 163 is above average. The only notes I regularly use alternate fingerings for are D and Eb in the staff. Both are a little low, but they are lip-able. Everything else works well with standard CC tuba fingerings.
The 5th valve is the older long 2-3 setup. I’ve found it especially useful for Eb, D, and Db.
Low F is very stable and in tune with 1-2-4.
The horn plays very well and has the classic Alexander sound. I think the next owner will be very happy with it.
Price: $6,000 OBO
Location: Houston, TX
