FS @ Chuck Levin's: Willson 3400 FA-5 Eb Tuba

Here's another really nice tuba fresh out of the shop! This one came to us from Pershing's Own. The story is that this horn was ordered for a player and took so long to come in that they had switched to an admin role, so it sat in storage. It was so tarnished that it was BLUE, and we were apprehensive of putting it on a buffing wheel to get some of the remaining tarnish of the rear. The silver is in great shape otherwise.

The pistons and body of the horn are in incredible shape for being a 20-ish year-old tuba. There is little to no wear on the valves, so it plays like a brand-new tuba. Classic point and shoot intonation that these are known for with a rich colorful sound. It is definitely heavy as typical for these horns (25lbs).

No case at this time, but I have a gig bag on order for it.

$7,825 bought direct? That’s a screaming deal for one of these when they sell new for about double that. If I had any need (and had any reading ability on Eb), I’d be so tempted.

I'm very tempted... but I know there's is no way to swing it after writing kids college tuition check for the semester.. and the likely divorce would cost A LOT more.
