chapped lips

I don't usually have problems with chapped lips, but lately, my lips have been getting chapped every week, and it's starting to get me down.
I tried beeswax - no good- and a few other stick-type meds off the shelf, without luck. So I thought I'd better just get on Amazon and get some Chopshaver. I've used it before, but this time it had a negative effect.
So my wife hands me some kind of tube of something, and I try it... WOW, it worked great. Unlike petroleum products, this actually hydrates your skin. If you have these problems occasionally, keep this around and try it. Lanolin is great in this application. I don't like it on my slides, but for the lips... much better than the udder stuff.

I'm big on the coconut oil ones, and if my lips are really feeling it skin wise I use the vitamin E gel capsules like Vaseline overnight

I would think if something actually has healing properties - rather than simply lubricating properties - that would be the product to consider.
With chapstick, I've seen people become dependent on it.

I like aquaphor.. I keep a tube of it at my desk and on my toolbox for chapped hands.. But it is petroleum. According to the label it's 41% petroleum jelly.. then mineral oil.. then moisturizing stuff.
For lips.. I've been using this stuff.. $1.50 at the grocery store.

Chapstick is still paraffin at heart, which makes a great valve oil! (Thank you bloke!)
I've been known to use lanolin in the dead of winter, definitely not a great flavor, but it seems to work better for me than vaseline.
