Perantucci PT 19?

Gang,

Hoping someone can help me out...

I have a buddy who is looking to buy a duplicate of a mouthpiece he owns. He wants another so he can keep one in his main case and another to take on polka gigs where he borrows a tuba.

He says it's a PT 19 he got a long time ago. I'm not terribly familiar with Perantucci's older numbering system and I had never heard of a PT 19, so I don't know what to tell him the modern equivalent is.

Can anyone help me out?

There are some charts uploaded to old TubeNet but the board is down now. Try emailing Bob Tucci: info@robert-tucci.com

Mouthpiece PT-19 is PT-66

There is an info from Bob Tucci, Jan 6th, 2018, on the old versus new numbering

old -> new
PT3 PT30
PT12 PT31
PT2 PT32
PT21 PT34
PT1S PT38
PT20 PT50
PT8 PT60
PT8“S“ PT62
PT9 PT64
PT19 PT66
PT7 PT68
PT25“S“ PT72
PT17 PT80
PT23 PT82
PT26 PT83
PT25 PT 84
PT0 PT86
PT10 PT88

If you go to Tilz Mundstückbau (www.mundstueckbau-tilz.de/310-b-tilz-nea.html) you will find that the mouthpiece series for B-tuba 310 (B. Tilz Nea) has the same numbering and dimensions of the old PT designations. I have no further details of the development of the PT mouthpieces, but obviously the Tilz models might have been some starting base for development and the PT series for sure have been further refined (for sure the cup outer shape changed). I have no experience comparing e.g. Tilz Modell 310-M 20 with a PT50 (Old PT20).

Best Chris

Thanks @Chris Mayer. The only ones I'd committed to memory were PT-9 = new PT/RT-64 and PT-20 = new PT/RT-50.

If it’s the listing of PT 66 like listed above the only option will be to purchase the Tucci Vintage 66 from CHI Brass.

Those are the real deal too. Nice pieces particularly for Eb tubas.

The Tucci Vintage 66 is indeed the closest to the Old PT 19 with the addition of the old School Tucci heavier cup style added when it became the 66 - not like the current design. Also every time these were changed at all they would likely have had small other adjustments made.

We have just a few of these in stock at CHI Brass standard or s shank right now. Next batch probably wont be made until next year sometime. These are not mass produced they are made the old fashioned way in small batches in Germany as the originals were.
