If this tuba doesn’t sell soon, I’ll probably just keep it. If this post is up, the tuba is available.

As much as I like this tuba, and as cool as it is (and has been) to have around, I haven't used it but one time.

$2,500 OBO. Located in the suburbs of Chicago. I can only drive on weekends. No shipping, no day long one way road trips. I can't swing that right now. Wenger Tuba Tamer included with purchase. No case.

I will give you a discount if you come to me. I would love for it to go to one of you here. It's listed on Facebook. Lots of tire kickers. If you know, you know.

I'm not trying to be a collector, and have found something else I want that I will use. So... Time to move this big guy on.

This is a Holton 6/4 sized tuba with a recording bell. 3 valves of approx. .750" bore.

Condition:

Valves are in IMPECCABLE condition, right at 100% plating. These are not original to the body. They came off my BB-340 body, hence the more traditional upright slide layout, rather than the sousaphone style slides many of these have.

Bell has a some dings and dents but nothing major. I don't believe It's ever been horribly creased.

Bottom and top bows have your traditional punches in them, pictured. The interior bows are remarkably dent free and round.

Lacquer is very spotty. I was going to strip it until Ferree's stopped selling their cold strip stuff.

It's been soldered together better than about 99% of these big old Holtons. No leaks, no stress or tension, minimal gaps. Bottom bow alignment and symmetry is better than a lot of the 34X tubas.

Because it has a different valve set on it, you may want to cut the outer main slide tubes a bit. Inner slide is shorter than the outer tubes.

Leadpipe is round and in a comfortable spot.

Playability:

It makes the best sound in my current stable. Wonderful big BBb tuba sound, excellent false tones, and easy response.

You will need to use 1-3 for second space C, or cut the first slide. Up to you.

Open F below the staff is up to pitch.

Really good indoor and outdoor sound with wide slots. Typical EURO sized receiver. Bloke's OG Ultimate is a great match for it.

Message me here for further details, or leave your email if you're new.

This is one seriously cool horn! I'm located in the north side of Chicago and would love to try it even though I'm not in the market.

With my Martin mammoth I simply can't justify having two 6/4 BBb horns around, but as long as it would feel with your time, feel free to send me a PM and and we could work out a time. Heck, I could bring the Mammoth along and we could have a nice BAT summit.

Best of luck with the sale!

Were we in the midst of yet another dixieland revival, that would have sold to some person on the west coast (to play that so-called west coast style) in about 5 seconds.

Those people really didn't do a tremendous amount of improvising but played arrangements out of these two huge books written out note-for-note by Lu Watters (typical dxieland orchestration, except there were two cornet books. Those bands out west purposely did not/do not "swing"... The style is sort of a highly adulterated version of King Oliver).

nice tuba !!!!! :smilie8: :smilie8: :smilie8:

Bump for slight price drop. Make me an offer. I need the space in my practice room, and it’s just sitting pretty.

Also… If the seller would prefer a totally lacquer free tuba, I have some Ferree’s cold strip now and can take the spotty lacquer off.

It accepts Euro shank mouthpieces. The receiver is original. Marked BB-350.

Final bump and price drop. If it doesn’t sell soon, I’ll probably just keep it. Fine with me. Too much of my time has been wasted by Facebook tire kickers.

I might as well send a PM too.

But just in case i'm too lazy (and i am lazy enough not too look closely enough at the pictures to answer my own quetion) how different is the 350 from the 105?
