This is a day that I knew would come someday, but hoped it would be many many years in the future
The words national treasure get thrown around a lot, but nobody deserved that title more than her
RIP

@LeMark
Thanks for posting this. I was driving and just now got home and saw this. I hadn’t seen the news while I was driving.
I grew up in Tennessee, and, of course, Dolly and Tennessee were inseparable. I don’t think it’s too much of a reach to call her a national treasure. I think she appealed to people of all stripes. For instance, after I saw your post, I looked on Facebook in my newsfeed, and a friend of mine posted that not only had her mom and she both grown up being fans of Dolly Parton, but her daughter was crushed, because she loved Dolly, and her daughter is in kindergarten. My Facebook newsfeed is full of people of, like I said, all stripes, expressing their condolences.

This is a copy paste from what I just posted on social media.
To be clear, I've never played behind Dolly Parton.

I do not personally connect with celebrities. I've worked behind tons of them. I don't speak to them. I don't ask for their autograph. I don't ask for a picture with them. I don't know them. They don't know me. I'm there only because they are there. They are not there because I'm there.
When high-profile people pass away, it doesn't touch me personally nor emotionally.
That said, when one of those people who is obviously a - really - good - person - passes away, I do feel a sense of loss.

I normally am not affected by celebrity deaths... But Dolly and Mr. Rogers hit me hard in the gut. Two amazing people who I always admired... not only for their beliefs but their commitment to acting on those beliefs. The world is a poorer place today.
I am sure there will be lots of other songs posted.. but her version of the old Jimmie Rodgers song Mule Skinner Blues has always been a favorite of mine. Man did she have an amazing voice.

Sounds like my dad. He had no use for "celebrity". But the only "star" my dad every paid to see, and the night before he passed away, Terry put a Playlist on for him to listen to dolly as he slipped away.

St Peter was probably like "well, we're ready for you, but we sure would have waited longer."
