King Custom CC (Dillon)

Post by tubatodd »

At Dillon Music

Not sure if this is one of Matt's custom horns, but this looks like a hand-made Conn 56J...ish. I would love this.

Looks like one of @Yorkboy's. But I am unsure. It sure is pretty.

Yeah. I suspect the intonation is pretty good, because they don't offer stuff up for sale that doesn't work.

I'm just about as sure as I can be that I was the one who straightened out this bell and bows, but I don't catalog memories of repair work in my mind. (I do not remember most gigs that I've played.) It's just that it's unlikely that it was anyone else who got those body parts and bell ready for tuba building, other than myself.

Sitting here (customer instrument) is the original model of four valve front action (BB flat) King tuba whereby that same bell is found. It makes a damn righteous sound.

That was my first thought, as well.

I don't recall seeing him around here much recently. Hope he's just busy, and doing well!
