Interesting. Newer Cerveny, kaiser CC.

These put out a ton of sound and the sound is usually pretty good. I would argue these are better budget horns than the new default chinese stencils. Only major issue I've ever had with them is the rotor paddles feel terribly cheap and the one I had was also clackity and loud. Idk if thats how these usually are or if mine was abused. But overall I liked the horn and they are also very lightweight for being such a big tuba.

I tried one of these and hated it, but that horn probably had a misaligned valve.

Cool looking!

A few years ago I tried the CC version of this at Horn Stash. IIRC, I thought it was pretty decent and fun to play. Much better all around than that Kanstul 90 that's been sitting there forever. I can't figure out how to play that thing in tune without a lot of work.

My main complaints about the big Cerveny tubas are:
* Horizontal fifth valve lever. I don't know whose hand that works for, but it sure isn't mine
* They vary, a lot. Some have a solid Kaiser tuba sound, and are real beasts. Others have this weird kind of pinched-but-big sound, which (to myself) I call "oinky" (no relation to the Cerveny Piggy, it's just the word I use for it. Same with things like the PT-20, some players just have a really constricted sound that -- when pushed -- gets narrower instead of larger. It's a weird phenomenon to describe, but I hate that sound. And I think the big Cerveny can bring that out in some players.
* ^Other big Cerveny tubas play so "loose" that the tuba wants to resonate itself until it falls apart, and have a "floppy" kind of undefined "big sound." Kind of like bad sousaphone playing. It's just kind of big and there, but forgettable. But since it's both big and there, others seem to be just fine with it.

More succinctly, I've just never been consistently impressed by the focus and definition of the sound from these. Maybe they require a lot more player training to elicit the right sound from them, but then again, if another tuba does that automatically with little work from me... I'd rather have that tuba.

But...

TLDR; if Uncle Matt says it's a good horn, IT'S A GOOD HORN.*

*If I were seriously interested (and this time, I'm not) I'd send Matt an email and ask for his 20 second opinion about it. 2 sentences from him is typically all I need to know, and I don't like to take up much of his time. If I'm not clear from those 2 sentences, I'll just give him a call. I miss being close enough to drop in and say hi to Matt. I'm not sure how old he is, but he's won't keep doing this forever. :tuba:

No longer listed on the Dillon site this morning. Did anyone here purchase it? I would be curious to hear about it.
