Daniel Ridder has a new video on Youtube comparing the following tubas. I found it interesting.
From Facebook:

Today I had the chance to test three impressive Miraphone Kaiser tubas: the 6/4 Siegfried, the 5/4 Hagen, and my new 6/4 Hagen (Model 497). In the video, you can even hear the very first notes played on the 497.
Three fantastic instruments, all handcrafted in Germany. My personal favorite is the 497 Hagen.
Which one is your favorite? Let me know in the comments!

maybe...
The next time you're there, pick up all three again, do another video, and play some pretty songs.

What do you not like?
High, low range? Maybe that's what tuba player are most interested in... But maybe you'll do better?!

I like what you played just fine. I have no criticism.
You'll be back at the Miraphone plant again, though, and I would just like to hear those three models back to back playing some lyrical songs with some connected pitches and some medium level dynamics which go up and down with the music.
So far, you've done a fantastic job of demonstrating the resonance qualities of all three of those instruments - on most all of the pitches in the range of the instrument - at full volume.
Next time, you can show us how they sound when playing some tunes.

You sound great on all of them. But that Siegfried... WOW! Those horns are FANTASTIC. It's a shame they don't get more attention.

My thoughts:
* You sounded the best on the 496
* You seemed most comfortable playing the 497
* It seemed like you you were working a little harder to make the 498 sound the way you wanted it to sound
I'm also sure that:
* YouTube videos capture only a fraction of the experience.
* The Miraphone showroom is also a less-than-perfect environment
* If all of a sudden you were forced to use only one of these and ignore the existence of the others... there would be no complaints.

No way, this was awesome:
* Zero excerpts
* Stuff I can play (to showcase the tuba, far more than his supreme technical ability)
* keine Furzgeräusche

To me: more centered on the Hagen’s, but the Siegfried sounds very nice! Maybe to pretty?

Ah, pretty. What I like about the NStar is that I can play PRETTY melodies in and above the staff, and while it sounds like a tuba, it doesn't have to sound like a grizzly getting ready to eat you. The tuba can be a truly beautiful lyric instrument as well as the growly basement. Both have their place.
