Hi everyone,

We just got in our first ever Stencel Gig Bag, and boy are we impressed! I made a video of my thoughts on it, which can be found at:

Any questions on these, please let me know. Thanks very much!

Looks nice! Not sure I totally trust those D rings. The rings, and the attachment of those to the bag, are high stress points.

How much does it cost?

Wow. I love that. When my Holton 345 is done I’d like to get a nice leather bag for it. This is on my list.

Ive had my stencil bag for over a year and a half now. Its actually the tan and brown one they have photographed on their website. So far its held up just fine. The design has changed bit since then, from what im aware, but I got mine for around $750 USD. Though I think they run a little over $1000 now with tariffs etc.

Looks like $990 here. This one also has a C-section style entry/exit.

Would be helpful to see a tuba being loaded in/out of the bag.

Glad to see new bag options since Gotz isn't around anymore

Hi all,

Thanks for the feedback! Regarding the D rings, they have not been broken on a single case they have made since 2006, ask I spoke with Rafa Stencel today about this. These are made by a long-standing factory in Poland, who has been making these types of parts for over 30 years. The strap inside is additionally reinforced with webbing to prevent it from breaking, and everything is secured with Italian rivets. I think they should hold up.

My price is $812 for a cordura bag and $955 for a leather bag. There is a video of the side loading bag, and I do expect my next orders to include one or more of those:

Cool, thanks! To clarify, I was questioning the attachment of the rings to the bag, not the rings themselves.

Looks beautiful!

How are they sized? By specific model, of by general height/bell size?

They are all custom made to order. We take measurements of every instrument. Typically, I am waiting until I get a few orders together to send over, so that we can all save on shipping and tariffs. Many of the Marcus Bonna dealers are doing the same thing.

They make bags for all types of instruments, and all of them with custom dimensions. In other instruments, he has different options of protection: a lightweight version for ease of transport, the classic version (all tuba gigs bags are classic) and the case model, which is a plywood case with a leather or cordura exterior. I'm beyond impressed with the attention to detail!

You don’t have to put a tuba in it. Just get the bag!

If I plan to keep an empty bag, do I still have to custom order it?
