Looking for Martin Mammoth Parts

Post by DeCipherPositions »

Hello,

I've recently acquired an upright Martin Bb "Mammoth" tuba that needs some heavy TLC. The second valve is currently missing from this instrument as well as the lead pipe bits that are supposed to wrap around the bell. If anyone has any parts or thinks they know a person, DM me!

I might be interested in selling this tuba along with the spare parts I’ve bought, I can send you some photos if you’d be interested.

What is the bell diameter? It looks too big to be 20", but the bell stack looks taller than the early ones that had 24" bells.

Interesting!

The bell diameter is in fact 24” across. I’m taking it to a local tech today to see if they can bring it back to life in playable condition. I’ll keep this post updated!

You may want to reach out to Sam Gnagey. He's built several fankentubas using Martin mammoths as a base and has sold some unused parts on a few occasions. He may still have some in storage.
