Very excited! There's an orchestra in my city (Montréal, Canada) mainly for doctors and students in medicine called "I Medici di McGill", and I learned last week that they needed a tubist for their next concert. I sent in some recordings I had had done (Prokofiev Romeo and Juliet Montagues and Capulets excerpt, Snedecor IV, and the intro to Arban's Fantaisie Brillante), yesterday I found out I was in. We had rehearsal today for the one piece I play, Peer Gynt suite, and it was so fun, the anticipation of everything gradually getting more intense and then the low brass come in, I loved it! I did have to sit several feet away from the trombonist next to me to avoid any accidents with my huge top-action tuba, though!

If there is a medical emergency in the audience and they announce “is there a doctor in the house over the loudspeaker?” - response time is going to be near instantaneous!

Peer Gynt is a lovely piece. It’s always a joy to hear when we play it. Have fun.
