Looking for a teacher

I’ve been thinking about getting some help with musicality and such. I have found that the local music schools are designed for beginners or children. Being an old guy who is not a beginner, these are not to my liking. I don’t want any on line lessons. I already did the Oystein Baadsvik course. Anyone know of a good tuba local instructor in the Minneapolis St. Paul, MN area?

If you aren't looking for technical instruction, consider someone who teaches advanced cello, someone from the symphony. Wouldn't be cheap but you'd get musical instruction.

Some people in your area might be Jacob Grewe (teaches at U Wisc Eau Claire but freelances in Minneapolis), not sure if he’s playing as much but Dr. William Mayson was the first DMA tubist from The Ohio State University and taught at Southern Mississippi, also Chuck Wazanowski is a freelancer in the area and there is Steven Campbell.

Not sure how far St. Olaf is from where you are willing to drive, but Jason Tanksely might be an option

Why not start at the top of the list and ask Steve Campbell ?

I'm sure he needs money just like everyone else does.

Scott Moore plays principal trumpet in the Memphis Symphony.. he's very musical and very versatile. When I need a trumpet player, I'll call him first. More often than not he's available, and - again - just like everyone else he needs money.

If you are specifically looking for help with orchestral excerpts, you should consider a bass trombonist from a professional orchestra. Not only will this person know the tuba parts, but they can play the excerpts with you, giving you a better perspective on the excerpt.
