No, I’m not there, I don’t have pics… but I’m asking if anyone IS there, is testing the newest and best and is taking pics they want to share…

Matt Gaunt, who has owned a whole myriad of tubas over the years, is a talented musician, and someone who I would say knows what makes a good tuba more than anyone in the field said this:
“Fun time playing tubas today at Midwest. My faves today included the Miraphone 291 Bruckner, new 5/4 Eastman cc EBC 834, and the B&S PT6. If you go have fun trying them. And hope to see you tomorrow night for the 3rd Coast Brass concert!“

So, his favorites are all CC? What about the best in all the other keys?

I seem to remember you posting the 834 was abandoned and the unit you had was disassembled. Are they going ahead with production?

I seem to remember you posting the 834 was abandoned and the unit you had was disassembled. Are they going ahead with production?
has to be a different design using the same model number. Matt said the 834 was a 632 with the valve section from the 836. not what I would call a 5/4 tuba

I only tried CC tubas this trip...

I don't really know anything about the details of the design etc. The model number is what Chuck Kerrigan told me. I just know I liked playing it!

This all sounds pretty cool. Any other reports from Midwest? I'm not really in the market for anything, but I love hearing about all the tubas!

Pretty sure someone did...
I think the word that percolated through to me was something like "best sousaphone ever", but i wasn't paying that close attention, so i can only assume it took a superlative to get my attention.
