Putting out feelers - Holton BBb Sousaphone Valve Section

Post by gocsick »

My old Holton Collegiate is getting to the point where compression is poor even with heavy oil (the valves had plating loss and some pitting from before me owning it). I am thinking about trying to source a replacement valve section.. but given that I am not getting any younger maybe the better option is a lighter sousaphone. Anyway if anyone knows of one sitting in box somewhere let me know.

As amateur as they come...I know just enough to be dangerous.

I'm not completely up on Holton Collegiate sousaphones. What is the bore size?
Some old Yorks, Martins, and perhaps a King rotary valved CC
