Useful post for students planning their applications. For anyone considering it, contacting the studio teacher early and taking a trial lesson is the step that matters most, because it shows how the teaching works and puts a name to the application before auditions. Starting the prescreening recording well before the deadline leaves time for several takes in a good room. Since financial aid is mentioned, comparing the net cost after aid across every school that makes an offer, rather than the published tuition, gives a much clearer picture.
