Hello All,
Auditions for the William Paterson University Music Department are in progress. There are great opportunities here for scholarships for all qualified brass players.
William Paterson is located in Wayne, NJ and is roughly 30 minutes from NYC. If your prime interest is in music education or sound engineering, this might be the place for you. I've been teaching here since 1993.
Here are the live audition dates:
Friday, November 13, 2026
Friday, February 5, 2027
Friday, March 12, 2027
Friday, April 2, 2027
Live auditions run between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Earlier is better, as far as scholarship opportunities go.
Here is a link to the music department: https://www.wpunj.edu/coac/departments/music/
Please contact me directly at wputuba@gmail.com, or at ScottP@wpunj.edu, if you have any questions. I'm happy to offer free, in-person lessons to any audition candidate.
Best,
Paul

Re: Auditions, William Paterson University, Wayne NJ
I am not a prospective student, but just wondering about the following blurb found at the bottom of the music department's webpage (emphasis mine):
"WP Music welcomes students who may have suffered from recent collegiate program closures and we are committed to helping them finish their degrees in music. We are one of the most stylistically diverse programs in the nation, with many options for aspiring performers, composers, educators, sound engineers, and music businesspersons. We are happy to facilitate transferring to WP. Please click Apply/Audition and reach out to our Chairperson Dr. Christopher Herbert and Director of Music Admissions Skyler Hagner."
What is that referencing?

I believe that at least one of the local universities lost its' music education program and I assume that is what this is referring to. Hadn't noticed that before.

I live in the Tri-State Area and hadn't heard of any music schools losing accreditation, so I was just curious if you knew. No problem.Paul Scott wrote: Wed Oct 21, 2026 12:06 pm I believe that at least one of the local universities lost its' music education program and I assume that is what this is referring to.
