Good day to all,
New to the forum. Long time voyeur.
I’m a retired Navy Musician - Tuba, Bass, VOX, Audio.
I took a break after Covid and I’m now working hard to regain my chops. Not as easy as I might have hoped.
So,…
1) looking for someone to do some lessons with…in person in Eastern Tennessee, or online. I was a strong player before so I’m looking for somewhat infrequent guidance, not weekly lessons.
2) I’m playing a 5/4 York ZO that I picked up from Lee Stofer. Lovely sound, but the size and lead pipe position are causing me problems. I can move the lead pipe, but I don’t know anyone close to Chattanooga.
I’ve started looking for a 3/4 Rotary BBb.
I see a PT - 605 out there, along with the JP 379 B and perhaps a Sierman Tanker.
I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions they might be willing to offer. I also don’t want to travel to Wisconsin or the middle of Florida to play test a John Packer. I don’t know if there’s anyone closer to me in eastern Tennessee who might be able to point me in a direction.
Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Lee MacDowell

Re: 3/4 BBb Tuba
The nearest person that I can suggest who might have 3/4 John Packer on hand would be a member on this board, Bloke. He's way over in Williston though, so you're most likely looking at a day trip. I have a 3/4 sized John Packer, but I live in the arm-pit of Texas.

I'll third that, get in touch with @bloke . His company is called Mid-South Music. Also try his mouthpieces!
