That COULD have been annoying, but the church handed me $350 bucks, so I got over it. :smilie6:

(It was sort of fun, because it a combination of "2nd trombone or tuba" and "bass trombone or tuba" parts. I hadn't dragged my F tuba out in a long time, so I got to knock the cobwebs out of it... and that (playing a different tuba, for a change) was DE-annoying.

... You get to a certain age, and everybody on the gig knows your name but you don't know anybody's else names.
Getting paid to.play your Symphonie sounds like a good gig to me.

Every time this tuba sits for a while and I pick it back up, I'm reminded that it's a hell of a tuba, that the PT10 and PT15 (arguably) were sort of like every Selmer Paris saxophone past the Mark VI (ie. "bridges too far"). I'm not linking the recording of the livestream, because I don't view any of these arrangements as particularly wonderful, but the pipe organ in this sanctuary is monstrous, and the (wonderful) organist (my friend, Dr Leo https://www.2pc.org/about-us/our-staff/ ... il/1680803 , who is playing it as his retirement job from being the director of one of the nation's top gospel choirs - back over at his former job at Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church) puts the pedal to the metal with that thing...
...and - just as with that recording of the Organ Symphony (same tuba) that I posted a while back, this tuba cuts right through all that jazz... I'm sure you can find the YouTube thing from the live stream... Check out his Bach postlude.

Touch any part or worse move their tuba.

In my own case this has not only annoyed me the tuba player, but also resulted in a few haymakers being thrown. :gaah:

To paraphrase Mr. Whipple - “Don’t touch the tuba!” :teeth:

A friend was sitting at a rehearsal and a woman was in back of the band taking pictures because her husband was in the horn section. He looked at her, she said "I won't hurt your tuba" and he said, "YOU ARE STANDING ON MY BELL!"

True story.
