I stumbled upon this and I’m unfamiliar with the 5th valve slide— maybe an aftermarket?

Neat! Looks like a two-step (sharp major 3rd) 5th valve. Pretty decent price, too.

Re: Meinl Weston CC 32(?)
Maybe a 4 valve Model 30.. that was modified. It is definitely a different 5th valve wrap from either the 32 and the WM Bell 37. Cool design..
As amateur as they come...I know just enough to be dangerous.

Re: Meinl Weston CC 32(?)
If it's anytime like my Model 20 BBb you would need a good pull on E and F and be in for A and Bb.bort2.0 wrote: Thu Aug 13, 2026 12:37 pm Nice!
Hope you don't need to pull that first valve slide often

Re: Meinl Weston CC 32(?)
I needed to pull on my 4-valve MW-30. But the 5th valve would clearly fix that

I like that this one has a kranz, too. They didn't all come like that.
There was once a MW-32 with Kranz and with fancy engraving at Dillon music. That was VERY cool looking.

Re: Meinl Weston CC 32(?)
^ But the VMI CC you bought is very similar to this tuba, and in much better condition. I think you got the better horn
This tuba here has had a lot of work done on it; some of it dubious. Look at the 4th valve tubing on the back of this tuba. Looks like someone cut a bad section of pipe out and badly fit/soldered a mouthpiece receiver or something into it...
But at least this tuba includes a nice hard case!

Re: Meinl Weston CC 32(?)
I haven't looked closely enough at it but if thats true thats definitely a bit worrying. Something id have to play before paying for like a week or few days at least. The Bell looks pretty bad too imocatgrowlB wrote: Thu Aug 13, 2026 8:25 pm ^ But the VMI CC you bought is very similar to this tuba, and in much better condition. I think you got the better horn![]()
