Not sure why you posted a picture of yourself in a female tuba thread, but oh well. Why are you not holding a viola?
With an additional 100#’s, more peroxide, and one helluva gap in the front two choppers, she should look pretty familiar.

With a second-hand kidney, two replaced shoulders, two replaced knees, 12" of my colon gone, and about to have a pig's heart valve in the not-too-distant future, I'm not sure I even qualify as a human.

Must be interesting to be the Bionic Tuba Player. I'm glad to have as many working parts as I do, and wish you the best when the pig makes its donation.

Well, I'm doing my part by raising my own tuba playing daughter. Today is her first day of summer band camp as a high school senior. We had to take her sousaphone home over the summer... in a large road case. It's a good thing I'm a tuba player with 4 kids in our household. My vehicle is able to move large-ish number of people and large instruments.

The downside to that is that when the ex-wife can't take the instrument (like this morning) I had to be at the school at 7am to drop it off.

And now I'm off to my son's high school to hand our popsicles for their summer band camp.

How I miss it. I can relate in the missing parts department. LOL.

I went to town hall for a building permit. The lady behind the counter asked what the purpose was, and I joked, "It's mostly to hold tuba cases!" and she said, "Oh, you're a tuba player? Me too, and I'd love to play again, but I have a Miraphone 186 with a really sticky first valve." I gave her my contact info if she ever wanted me to take a look. I said she could always just find my shed permit file if she needs my address. A connection was made in the town building permit office that day!
That is incredible. Those are the best type of connections.

*pinches self*
You probably only read my most recent response, and not my earlier one.
EARLIER, I discussed pictures of (either) anonymous (ie. "here's a picture of a woman holding a tuba...never mind who they are, or what they've achieved") and/or AI (computer-generated pictures of) women (holding tubas) posted relentlessly on a particular tuba-related social media page.
I personally view pictures such as those as demeaning (ie. "a woman" vs. "a PARTICULAR INDIVIDUAL who happens to be a woman").

Not everything is political.
My comment was not political.
It SIMPLY referred to REAL (ie. people who actually EXIST) people vs. computer-generated people.

That said, I have no control over how anyone else chooses to (mis-)interpret my remarks.

That said,
All we have here are typed words. We neither have vocal inflections nor facial expressions to go with the words, whereby it becomes very easy to misunderstand others' words - and certainly if the other person's (tangentially-related) views on some topics may not completely overlap with our own.
Have I struck a defensive chord in you? Awwwww.

I love giving you grief, but I can assure you there was no grief intent with my comment.

I was in the mood to pinch myself.

Not really.. I love telling randos I play an Eb Bass. When I was stuck in the hospital with stupid gall bladder, I was amazed at the number of people who came up to me and asked ‘Are you really a tuba player???” It was such a fun conversation pieces. I just tell ‘em “I like big horns and I cannot lie”.

But I appreciate you sensitivity. There is hope for you yet. :care:
