Re: WTB: Bass trumpet
I have a holton bass trumpet I would be willing to part with. I'm located in the Chicago suburbs though.

Re: WTB: Bass trumpet
I've played some fancy European bass trumpets, and I've played USA-made (manufacturer-specifically-identified as) bass trumpets.
King flugabones have been the best in-tune (of anything, in my experience) and the 8 inch bell and 1/2 inch bore makes them easier to "compete" with today's larger-bore brass (in symphony orchestras) AS WELL AS in combos (with loud drums/keyboard/bass/etc.)
The 3rd slide on the King fluga allows for good intonation with 1-3 and 1-2-3.
Use the smallest small shank mouthpiece that works for you with a King flugabone, if you are seeking a more authentic "bass trumpet" resonance
(yeah...maybe smaller than 12C).
The BEST bass trumpet performance I've ever heard/was-involved-in was when the person hired to play on Gotterdammerung brought in a King flugabone...Of course, the PLAYER was also extraordinarily fine.

Re: WTB: Bass trumpet ••• FOUND
Thanks to 20IF2 for recommending Taylor Music. I ended up buy a Conn Marching Trombone. I don't know if this is the same as a flugabone, but it fits my needs. FYI, they had a Conn and King for sale, and the two instruments appear to be identical except for branding.
Regarding horn itself, it has a a warmer, darker tone than my Getzen bass trumpet. The Getzen has a more focused sound and that's what I was looking for, but the Conn will be fine. The reason I need these two horns is that one of them (I don't yet know which) will be kept in Mexico.
Hup
