WTB: Rotor PT6

Post by Misfituba64 »

Hello everyone, I have a student and their parents are interested in purchasing a used B&S Rotor 6. They have a flexible budget and are open to traveling to find the right instrument. If anyone has one available or knows of any leads, I would appreciate you letting me know. Thank you.

Finding a good used PT-6 is up there with finding the Grail. The demand is REALLY high.

I wish you luck!

There was one coming to Baltimore Brass last time I looked, at about $10k, which is I guess the going price for a real PT-6 now?

The one I tried was $6500 in 2000, so the price isn't that bad with inflation.

I've only ever tried a piston version of this horn id love to try the rotor version and see how it felt. Pistons especially Big pistons have never been my favorite on german tubas. But the Pt-6/B&S 3098 seems to be one of those horns that they got the formula just right. Don't think ive ever met a tuba player who didnt like it.
