Josef Monke F-Tuba in Goldbrass for sale

Post by TheBerlinerTuba »

posting for a friend in Berlin

For sale a ca.1980s vintage professional Josef Monke F-Tuba in Goldbrass with 6 valves lacquered with hardcase.

The tuba is in an excellent original condition. There are some signs of repair work to the bell and the bow caps. It's not really noticeable or has an effect on the sound, but the owner would like to be transparent. There is the usual wear to the lacquer from the owners hands.
The tuba was completely handmade and the bows and crooks were all done by hand.
The valves are from Meinlschmidt and are quiet and fast with top compression.
There is an extra valve slide to convert the 5th valve to a quintvalve.

The tuba has a big fat sound and feels a lot like a Rudolph Meinl F or the 1980s vintage Melton 46S. Like many older german F-Tubas the low range isnt as point and shoot as my B&S Symphonie, but it's definitely better than the aforementioned Melton and their ilk. It would fit well in any professional orchestra or windband.
Price 7,000€ with the original hardcase.
Located in Berlin Germany. Shipping possible, just ask.

Gorgeous! I used to have a Josef Monke mouthpiece, but I've never really seen any other Monke tuba stuff around. :tuba:
