Holy crap! I hadn't sold there on a year or so (maybe 18 months)

Re: Selling stuff on reverb?

It's not hard at all, but I will echo that it has less tuba traffic than Facebook marketplace. Reverb can handle the shipping for you if you know the size of your shipping container.

Might be easier to upload them to a Google drive folder (or drop box), set it to anyone can view, and post link here.

Re: Grad school upsize thoughts

Since you got accepted on the Eastman, why not let the new teacher guide the decision, or at least give their 2 cents. If you want an upgrade for you, cool. Make sure pitch is workable. Most conductors aren't really paying that much attention to us as we think. They want in time, in tune, and ...

Re: Schilke CLE Mouthpiece

I tried one once, it was a nice mouthpiece. If you like that style of MP, it will likely feel like an upgrade from the 120s.

If you want to be sentimental, there are several options out there for refinishing & restoring your old MP as well.

Do you have any recommendations? I’m cautious to ...

Re: FS: B&S MrP.C 17k

For sale I have an amazing example of a Mr.P CC tuba.
I love this horn however I no longer need it due to change in career plans. By far my favorite and the best CC tuba I have ever played.

I recently had the 2nd valve kicker (parts shipped from B&S and that were meant for this horn) installed at ...

Re: Current MP options

Sellmansberger Solo, lots of options to fine tune.

Maybe an RT/PT 65 or 64

Maybe a Miraphone C4 or C3 (have to look up the current TU number equivalents).

Maybe a Laskey 28k, 28F, or 28C - the C might be he most shallow / aggressive if memory serves well, but you may want to look into the three ...

Re: Eastman Marketing - 836 versus 834

This thread might be shifting a bit, but I consider pitch and response first. I tend to be able to adjust MP or approach enough to get different colors if I'm not having to work too hard for pitch. I agree every horn has a quirk in some aspect of playing, and we all have to find the trade offs we ...

Re: Sellmansberger Symphony vs. OG Cup

The stainless OG has a little more burn/focus/clarity forward type sound, while the symphony is a little rounder/prettier.

I thought this was merely due to the shank on the 3 piece. This is probably the opposite direction I want to go if it is the cup too since I am a more aggressive player ...

My old DS had an "in between receiver" that I generally used American shank on for everything except Giddings pieces (needed euro).

Re: "Mass/weight changes how a brass instrument mouthpiece plays an instrument."

I agree with this. I think the PT-50 and PT-50+ are equally as hard to play on. 😂

I don't know if it was my two specific mouthpieces or what. I'd never had much of a preference for megatone or + or whatever people were calling them mouthpieces, EXCEPT my 50 and 50+.

Background - this was ...
