Re: WTB: Replacement rubber feet for K&M floor stand

Update:

I read dp's recent posting (https://tubaforum.net/viewtopic.php?t=14859&sid=7fe985cca1eab051a7afdb107c702fe4) with interest. I have been having a similar experience.

Also note that my above message was viewed more than 700 times with zero response.

So I went to Lowe's and bought a 4-pack ...

WTB: Replacement rubber feet for K&M floor stand

Need a dozen rubber feet to replace the worn-out feet on my three K&M floor stands model 14940. These feet have a rectangular inside hole, dimensions approx 20mm x 6 mm (3/4" x 1/4"). Thank you.

Re: WTB Double mouthpiece pouch/case

For a mouthpiece holder that you can carry in your "kit bag", just put a mouthpiece into an old sock. Can put two mouthpieces, one in each sock, then both into an outer sock. Safe and inexpensive.

For long-term storage of many mouthpieces, see four photos in imgur:

Re: WTB: Dr. Fred Young Style Mouthpieces (Reynolds, Wessex, or Unbranded)

Hi MartinMan,

I played on a Reynolds Dr Young for more than a year. It is an intriguing mouthpiece design. But I had to push a lot of air thru it to make it sing, and articulation was sloppy. To understand those two shortcomings, I machined a series of mouthpieces of the Dr Young design -- some of ...

Re: mystery Eb tuba, only $135 (Athens, WI/FB)

The dent on the bottom bow appears to be easily removable with dent ball. No obvious dents on the valve knuckles. Bell appears to be in good shape and I'll bet that's a beautiful bell emblem. Great price. And so what if the mouthpiece is Conn 2 -- they're OK mouthpieces, but your favorite will ...

Re: mystery Eb tuba, only $135 (Athens, WI/FB)

I agree with gocsick.

Comparing photo to my 1929 BBb -- same ferrules, same brace struts and flanges, same top valve cap design, the bell emblem (what one can see of it in the photo) is roughly the same, and that "W" master tuning slide is dead nuts for Holton.

Re: What did you play today?

Mary Ann,

Consider buying a Wenger Tuba Tamer (or some product with equivalent functionality). Then hire (or bribe) someone to do the driving, schlep, setup, and take down all that heavy stuff for you. Then you can focus on playing, while avoiding wear and tear on the sinews. I'm sure there is ...

The mouthpiece shown in the link (https://musicrioja.com/products/lipcam-analisis-embocadura-viento-metal?srsltid=AfmBOopcwmTql4weKz7qzuf_VhkoNnGaWxklAMXCY6xFIv4NEihOTa6d) appears to be smaller than a tuba mouthpiece. Might want to contact the seller to ask whether a tuba mpc is available and at ...

Re: B and S 3106?

The factory sent me a "Produktblatt" (spec sheet). It says bell 420 mm, weight 8.5 kg, bore 19.0 mm. (That's bell 16.5", weight 19 lbs, and bore 0.750".)

Measurements on my 1979 BS3106 -- height from bottom to top of body 30", height from bottom to top of bell 41", width 18". I made the ...

Hi Wes,

I'll take that Wedge. Not so much that I need yet another mouthpiece. Rather, to thank you for your wonderful work for Mr Bunn and for all of us. And to give you closure!

As before, I would like to mail you a check. Please contact me at proscientific@verizon.net

Agreed!

I owned one that was surplus from a local fire dept band. Vintage 1932. A real honker and lots of fun. Lightweight and easy to carry. Traded it to Harvey Hartman for I-can't-remember-what. Harv sold it to someone in Arizona.

Re: Nickel in valves

I have a 1929 Holton BBb tuba with copper-plated valves. I suspect this was how they did it at the factory. Perhaps other Holton valves were made this way -- trumpets, peckhorns, baritones, etc?

Hoping that gocsick might enlighten us on properties of copper that would be beneficial in valve plating ...
