Re: Some modifications I have had done to my Besson 983 Eeb
With regards to hard fingerings… going from 24 to 23 and back…. I found a very workable solution. A full pull 3rd slide gives an E with 123 in both octaves in tune. Having this 123 option makes it a lot easier!!

Correct, L is for 10.5 bell instead of standard 9.5 inch bell.

Re: Dillon besson 983 mouthpieces
Hi, yes thanks!! I found a slightly larger shank than American (.520 at end of shank is AM) works better on the 983. The PS3 shank is supposedly that way…
Good to know there are other options!! And there is a dealer in Portugal I believe for the European market?

Re: Dillon besson 983 mouthpieces
Yes, all input is really appreciated! For now I am settling with my Doug Elliott with a Miraphone shank (between AM and Euro). The Wick is just to muddy for me… it is a very forgiving mouthpiece, but it will cost you in clarity. And I find clarity is my priority above all.

Re: Dillon besson 983 mouthpieces
Hi, my experience with the Wick 3L was not that positive. It probably works on the top action models, to me not on the front action. I found it sluggish in response and tubby sounding.

I believe most of his video's have an English audio channel available!Bob Kolada wrote: Sun Nov 16, 2025 10:20 pm 6:38 here is fantastic. I've been on a giant German Bb binge lately and have been watching a lot of videos where I don't understand what the guy is saying.

Re: The Hard Case Rebuild Thread
I finally had some time to finish the project as best and practical as possible. The result is absolutely not very esthetically pleasing, but is good enough for now. It will be using this case maybe once or twice a year.

You are perfectly right of course. These kind of responses would fit well in a Dutch forum! ;)

Re: 983 modification: mts sleeve
Not really, I believe they are 2 completely different things. The common thing is that they narrow the bore and have an effect on response..... Sleeving is not a new thing and has been around for a long time I believe.

983 modification: mts sleeve
I love my 983 but…. I felt I could be a bit easier to start soft notes, to do flexibilities easier and a little bit more to lean on in general. I got this from my experience with Thein. When I visited their shop we did some optimizations to my Thein bass trombone. This included sleeving the mts ...

Re: The Hard Case Rebuild Thread
Reviving this thread to show what I did for my Besson 983.
I was looking for a hard case, but the exact case for this model is rare and very expensive new. This week I found a passable case: an old Miraphone case. (For a B-flat I guess)
First thing I did is make the mold at the side of the bell ...
