Is that first picture in NYC by chance? I have a picture from the 1980s with my parents near that spot (I believe). My mom called it "the $100 picture" because they double parked to get the picture and came back to a $100 ticket on the car window.

Yes! There is a bit of false tubing in front, as the real tube is doubled up behind it. :bugeyes:

I snatched this Carl Fischer (King?) up with a low BIN price, drove to NJ to pick it up (effectively negating any savings) only to find it in slightly worse shape than expected. Thanks for the kind words Joe! I have to admit, the reason I never invested in one of these EUBs (or the real thing) before is that I wasn't confident I would be able to devote the necessary time to getting good enough at it, when I've already got a couple of instruments I could get a lot better at ...

That bass is a beaut, Bloke! Never been a Fender guy myself, nor could I ever get the tone I wanted from any of the Ibanez basses I've owned. Go figure. Settled on this "Douglas" from Rondo Music almost 20 years ago (all other 6 strings are 35" scale, which I just can't do) replaced the stock radio ...
