Tuba to Euph question
I have played Tuba for almost 50 years, and bass Trombone about 40. I’m finding myself here lately being asked to do a bunch more of Euphonium things. Those of you that double a lot, what are some recommendations you have to try for a Euphonium mouthpiece on a regular basis? I’m playing on a Yamaha ...

YEB 321 Eb tuba
Looking for a YEB 321, preferably older, but will look at newer models. Hopefully in the Midwest but also willing to have shipped.

Re: YFB to YEB?
The 163 I had was solid nickel. The horn played really well with both tuning slides.

Re: Paul mouthpieces!!
I got the regular Paul der Gross. It works great on my 188. But I still like my RT88 for most band stuff.

Paul mouthpieces!!
I know a couple of you had been following me on my journey to find (in my price range) forever horns. I have been trying to find an E Flat that was non compensating, 5 valves and actually gets a sound I like. Well, a couple of rabbit hole dives into mouthpieces, and I was extremely lucky. I have an ...

Re: YFB 621 question
FYI if you have 12K ready to go the Willson Gabriel Capet model Eb is stunning.

Re: YFB 621 question
Great suggestions. One thing I guess I should throw out there, and this is in no way meant to be pretentious. I’ve been playing for about 45 to 50 years and in all that time E flat has been my main solo and chamber instrument. I’ve owned countless top action instruments, both compensating and non ...

Re: YFB to YEB?
I was lucky I think with that method. I had an Alex 163 and played a PT 10 P that both were ‘really good’. Not great, but pretty good. The 163 actually in a weird way was almost a better Bb than CC….

YFB 621 question
I have had a couple CC Tubas, that have the slightly flat fifth valve that actually turned them into pretty decent playing B Flat tubas. The MW 37 and the Alex 163 to be specific. Has anyone out there ever toured around with the YFB621 with a slightly low fifth valve? I know a lot of people out ...

YFB to YEB?
OK, I know on the old forum. This had been discussed once or twice a long time ago. I have played a couple other five valve non-compensating F tubers that have had extended tuning slides added to them. One being the B and S PT 10, and the other a YFB822. The PT was OK, but I thought the 822 was ...

Re: RT small shank
RT 88S sits great in the 1982-ish receiver. And the obvious part, the horn responds great through the registers. I’ve played the 88 since getting my first one over 35 years ago. It’s just a great piece of equipment. For me anyways.

Re: RT small shank
My Schilke HII goes in about 1/3 the way down the shank and a Bach 12 about the same. Based on everything I read now the 88S should be about that length. This larger shank actually fits my newer 186 perfectly. This 188 was built in ‘83-84. It is a WONDERFUL instrument and I got a great price from a ...

RT small shank
Just asking those of you that probably know, I ordered an RT88 for my mirafone 188 that I just received. It only went in less than a quarter of an inch. I’m assuming if I order the small shank that probably should fit well? I know it may sound silly, but I just didn’t wanna buy something that was ...

Current MP options
Ok, in 1995 I knew it all, but nowadays it feels like there are dozens of options for great mouthpieces. I have a smaller frankenhorn in Eb that I’m wanting to experiment with. I have played on a Wick 3SL for about 4 years on it, but it just has never felt right. My Schilke HII plays well in the ...

MP close to PT 88
I know a long time ago I asked this question and I can’t find where I asked it so I’m going to ask it again. With it being difficult to find versions of the old PT 88, what mouthpieces out there today would you consider pretty close. The 88 has been my main stay since 1990, but this old dog is ...
