Imo, that's what those new-style King 2341 tubas in good/used condition should go for -- not $4k or $5k.

Because the older/tall/detachable-bell King 2341 tubas in good/used condition usually sell for $2k - $3k, and they are built better than the new-style ones.

I'm one of the few weirdos that actually likes the YBB-641. They are maybe not as 'colorful' in sound as other similar tubas, but they will have a good characteristic tuba sound if you play it decently. It's a more 'vanilla', yet rounder sound and doesn't 'blat' like the Miraphone 186.

It's been a while since I played both models, but I prefer the B&S PT-1. The PT-1 is slightly larger than a Mira 186 BBb, but both are close enough. I usually group the old PT-1 in with the MW-25 and Mira 187 as 4/4+ rotary BBb tubas. The PT-1 will generally have a wider, more buttery sound than the ...

There has to be some sousa players that are fairly close by or come thru my area. Send a message here and come on out to try this classic sousa that 'floats' on your shoulders because it's so light, yet is built like a tank and plays great. *Bump*

Now at $5,500 -- a much more reasonable/realistic price.
This looks to be a 1970s -- early 1980s model, in excellent condition. Still has the Getzen scribe on the bell, S-linkage, etc. Meinl-Weston made multiple changes to this model over the years. Good tubas

I may have come off as a little bratty in my post above. But it was just because I'm all about the music and us musicians doing the best job we can. And that sometimes it just feels thrown together and not as polished as I'd like at times.

Similar here. Try doing that with a quartet (2 trumpets, trombone, tuba), with 2 trumpets on one side, and the trombone and tuba on the other side up on the stage of the sanctuary. My weirdo self would love to see more tubas & sousas with quality metallic and pearlescent paint finishes. Someone here (tubatodd?) posted a while back on some school sousas that were finished with a pearlescent-cream paint finish. I thought it looked great :hearteyes:
