Re: How the guard/brace impacts resonance - MW2165

What about buying some pool noodles as a temporary guards? Or, you could make those leather or p-leather wraps, but that is more time consuming.

Re: New B&S International BBb: model 796

Cool! Good sir Warren Kus mentioned to me it was in the works!!!!

Although, the spot that tuning slide occupies for the 796 was a nice area to hold the 3301 (pt2p) tuba when your walking with it.

The lead-pipe and second valve tubing on the 4097 CC (pt20) gets in the way...

Wessex makes a 3+1 Compensating F tuba.

Besson also made a 3+1 F tuba in the past. One was for sale at the Army Band Conference. In hind sight I should've taken an entire photo of the instrument.

I took ...

Best of luck!

I was asked to have them listed and get the word out!

My tuba teacher and friend moved back to Tennessee. He said they all play well and are very heavy!!

Re: YFB 621 question

Maybe the Wessex Eb Front Piston Tuba ‘Gnagey’ TE465?

Or if you could find the rare Gronitz Piston Eb used.

Since you wanted non-compensating.

Oooorrrrrr you could make a longer fith valve or custom main tuning slide if it ends up being an alright horn in Eb... I haven't spent time with a Yamaha ...

Re: for those of you who own and use King sousaphones

I also do not like King Sousaphone bits!

I'd say go for it!

Hopefully if someone in the future needs bits and the ones you ultimately decided on get lost... It's not a pain to find or easily make.

Or make a one piece solution.

Although, I own a pit tuba and don't own a Sousaphone.

Originally the 4/4 Nirschl. Then Nirschl loaned/sold the tooling to a Brazilian manufacturer, until it became clear they didn't know what they were doing. Now, copies are made by Besson (BE995) and ZO (Little Thunderbird), to varying degrees of success. The ZO I tried was 30 cents flat overall ...

Those are both true statements. I was really close to ranting about fountain pens 🖋️ and nibs ✒️. Eh

There's a video of the TB1 too. The way the bugle is wrapped is actually quite different compared to the TB7. Which means the TB7 is truly an unique or a distinct tuba. Nooooice :care: :hearteyes ...

I managed to end up with the Reynolds Dr. Young that came up for sale. It doesn't sound bad, I understand the concept that he was going for. The cup is simply too deep to play up to pitch. I'll see if I can make another video demonstrating it.

Re: New (China-made) Conn tuba models

The Conn CBB4114 most intrigues me:

Looks like something out of Conn's past (which kinda appeals to me). List price of $8,739 seems . . . ambitious.

I know ZO is making stuff for Conn, as I saw their 20K short-action valve set. Looked pretty good to me!
