Gang,

Hoping someone can help me out...

I have a buddy who is looking to buy a duplicate of a mouthpiece he owns. He wants another so he can keep one in his main case and another to take on polka gigs where he borrows a tuba.

He says it's a PT 19 he got a long time ago. I'm not terribly ...

Leanin' on the Everlasting Arms

The design isn't a surprise -- Jonathan Hodgetts played a rotary Neptune for many years. He loved that tuba, and then started his own tuba company and basically didn't use it after that. Plus, B&S stopped making the Neptune long ago.

The Titan seema like an odd combination, maybe it works ...

The first valve slide doesn't look all that accessible unless you have child sized hands, or Bob length arms. 😀 Maybe one of these left side kickers? Your thumb would be right by the 4th valve slide then as well.

Mine.

Were it not that I am ridding myself of debt (as we accumulated some during "covid", and I'm just not accustomed to having any) I would get the car checked over and drive to Arizona - with federal reserve notes - to see if that tuba is something that I could use myself.

You and me both, Bloke.

@prodigal, I haven't seen a 3100 with the old Symphonie graduated bore on the B&S website for a while now. It used to be designated the PT-9, but they have gotten rid of all the PT designations at this point. I didn't seen any with a bore reported at less than 19mm.

The 3100 with the ...

Being the mouthpiece junkie that I am, I'm curious about his products.

However, I have to admit, I'm always so reticent to go to a mouthpiece that boasts an inner diameter bigger than 33mm (~1.3 in). There are only a few on the list of items he makes that fit that roll. Either some appear to be a ...

I feel like I can share this:

I own both a Scott-made Laskey 30G (the name block is italicized) and a Backun-made Laskey 30G.

From my own personal observation - the articulation is practically the same on both (I think you can thank Laskey's rim design for that). However, sound-wise, the older ...

I really wanted to have a lesson with him. May he rest in peace and may his family be comforted in this time.

They did at one time when I visited, this of course was before I considered owning a BBb. But that was over a year ago.

Beautiful playing. You've every right to be a proud grandfather, Bloke. Brava to the young miss!

Jealous and wish I could come up and listen. Midway is my favorite March by a long shot.

And the rest looks to be quite enjoyable.

Have fun, Bloke!

They really used a lot of post brush up for you, didn't they Wade?

Hope you have a great concert, sir!

Those concerts pay really decent dough.

The music itself:

FABULOUS click tracks !!!

I love good video game music: Jack Wall, Yasunori Mitsuda… John Mackey can’t hold a candle to them; like I said, his music sucks

I have no idea who that is. I am assuming he is a composer.

Are you compartmentalizing him into the "self-styled composer" box?

His “music” sucks and he’s a prima donna. He’s popular lately with stuff in drum corps and his stuff is like vidya game moosic (better composers in that genre).

That is crap produced by someone who wants to look like a composer but who lacks any sort of original inspiration or talent. He is a fraud, a poo-flinging monkey who shames his audience for calling out his "art" for being the poo flinging it is.

He needs to look into driving a truck or perhaps ...

Had I the scratch for this, I’d have already reached out and said “take it off the market, it’s mine.”

As such, that is not the case. Always loved Mr. Fletcher’s playing. Someone will be getting something really special.

Pictures can be a strange experience, based upon the intent of the tuba player...

Lots of community orchestras program whatever. I would also say community orchestras put a lot of stuff on the calendar, only to silently have the program subject to change.

This literally happened to me. I was ...
