Re: Projects: Cerveny 5v Eb conversion and Mira-Bach 184

I have finished the hard part of re-routing the 1st valve circuit to make room for the added fifth. I cut the long leg of the donor 1st valve circuit to make this work, and used the donor 2nd valve slide on it. I kept the outer slide leg from the original horn just so it looked more uniform. Here ...

Thanks!

Christian has been able to quote me the total cost.
When stuff arrives, no one has their hand out asking me to pay a tariff fee.

They don't just sell to anyone...and - to those of us to whom they sell - they will only ship directly to us, and will not "drop-ship" to our customers.

Tariffs

Hello, has anyone bought parts from Miraphone or China and had to pay tariffs? Confused on how it works, and I haven’t ordered anything since they were implemented. I need to order some parts from overseas.

Thanks!

Re: Kanstul 90 CC at the Horn Stash $6900

It’s right near me. And yeah, it’s been there what seems like forever.

It’s priced too high, especially for what it is. Kanstul didn’t make a whole lot of them, and you really roll the dice on how it plays.

If someone is really interested in it, I’d be happy to drive over there and try it out ...

Re: Holton 345 Valves VS Mienl Weston Valves

Tuba looks great. Nirschl pipe, right? It looks remarkably similar to a 2165 with that valve section on it!

Yes, nirschl leadpipe.

The raw brass finish and Mienl Weston style block does make it look like a 2165.

MW briefly made (I think there’s two examples) a 6/4 CC that had 3 branch loops ...

Re: Holton 345 Valves VS Mienl Weston Valves

Here is the finished horn. New smaller valves, leadpipe, and 5th valve. The horn is much more dialed in.

At some point I will try and tuck the 5th valve in the body of the horn, but it was too much work to accomplish and works ergonomically.
