I bought a tub of Maas metal polish. A biggun. It’s totally different than the old pink stuff in a tube. Description is the same. They got me good at over US$50.00. I wanted the old stuff…
It is no good for hand polishing, imo. Really, no good.
However…
I mentioned this to a friend who does much more refinishing than I do. He concurred, “yeah, it sucks now! The thing is, it appears to now be basically a white rouge or finishing polish/compound in paste form. Hitting it lightly with a wheel works great.”
Indeed it does! I used it to buff a few worn spots on a tuba and it really came out nice and very much improved. So, I probably have a good long supply (lifetime?), but I’m still pretty happy about the results.
Maas revisited.

Re: Maas revisited.
I used to attend maas, but then I laapsed.
My repairman friend recommended this stuff to me, but he had been using it out of an ancient tube. Good to know they’ve changed the formula.
I was also sad that 3M Tarnishield is no more. I LOVED that stuff.
