This has gone off the rails as it usually does, but if you want to see someone who has Calet figured out enough to make an impression, it's worth getting to see this FB post:

@the elephant If I'm right about this, I may know of they guys in this new venture. Would they be more than several hours northeast of you?the elephant wrote: Wed Aug 14, 2024 12:44 pm
I still am not sure I am supposed to talk about this place yet, so I will not mention names or locations; I will leave that to others (or the owners).

Checks are returned upon arrival to the audition. A process put in place decades ago to discourage no shows. Is that kind of thing normal in the music biz?

I do not know whether Gene or Jake recorded this, and I certainly don't know who was brought in to play second. If you like, I can email Gene and ask. I could also send you the score, if you would agree to delete it after reviewing the recording. :smilie8:

We ran into the problem of using the exchange several years ago. They needed military ID, if I recall, before we could buy anything. The bowling alley is about the only game in town for civilians. Or, has that changed? We'll make it work. :wall:

You are correct. I have a price sheet direct from Buffet about 1 month ago. The 2182W lists for $9,750 with a gig bag.
2023 or 2024? I have one labeled 2024 with a slightly higher price of $10,050. Still much lower that the OP's asking price.
Now the Tuono from the same seller is priced right ...

It's not like anyone is checking badges at these things. If you want to go try horns, just go. If you want to check out the evening concert, just go. Sure if someone makes a stink about it you'd be "wrong", but the conference host will be too busy running around to notice who played that Eastman 6/4 ...

As heard on the Chicago Symphony's 1968 Rite of Spring recording. It looks as if the valves have been redone. Dropping them off at the shop for reconditioning to restore them to former glory!
