Re: Cerveny Piggy Cronkite gig bag

That odd. I had a Chronkite piggy gig bag for my Packer (arion copy) and it was a good fit. Maybe an inch or two max too long, but really close

Re: Is Tubenet busted?

The point is, Coby has a history of popping in here and getting into arguments. It's all he ever does , and I'm tired of it. I have limited bandwidth and an unreliable connection while I'm in Greece, and the chances of this going smoothly while I'm out of town are much greater if Coby is not ...

Re: Any experience with Wilson 3400 5V Eb?

One of my favorite Eb tubas of all time, but it feels like an elephant sitting in your lap. Very heavy

For a fantastic Eb tuba that is actually light, look at a miraphone Norwegian star

Dammit, I'm on vacation. Just landed in Greece and I'm tired of the bickering. Colby, your account is deactivated for now. If you get both Joe and Wade calling you a twit, you've Dunn messed up

Websites go down all the time. The difference between this one and that one is we have the great @ParLawGod to keep us up and running and they have admins that barely check in once a year

Re: Why should or shouldn’t I renew my ITEA membership?

I enjoyed the Knoxville event, and haven't been to another since. Between covid and the incredibly short sighted choice to put a struggling organization's convention in Spain, I haven't seen a convention I was at all tempted to go to.

No reason to join ITEA if that's the best they can do. Maybe I ...

For a 16th of an inch, I would be tempted to shorten the tube

Re: Right way to de-flare a tuning slide

Can you check the OD with a good caliper and see how far up the tube the flare extends?

Re: Are you using your F tuba to play anything other than gypsy violin solos these days?

I've never played F tuba outside of elephant rooms. Played an incredibly nimble piggy for decades, and when I went to a larger CC, got into Eb tuba. Now I'm strictly a BBb /Eb guy.

Not sure why they wouldn't use the term "Romanian" over Romano or Roma, and yes you're right, if I see Roma, I'm thinking of Rome. (I'm going to be in Rome in 3 weeks)

I know you're not going to believe me and I know you're not going to care, but the term Gypsy is considered offensive these days. I'm not going to delete or even edit this thread, but please avoid it in the future

Re: Teach me about tuba conferences

Go ahead and ask your question, the policies will be the same for both conferences. If that doesn't work, I have a good friend who happens to be a former student that is in the Army Band that hosts the event. I'll get you a contact email so you can ask questions

Re: Teach me about tuba conferences

My favorite is the US Army Tuba Euphonium Workshop at Ft. Myer in Arlington, VA. It is free, three and a half days, and occurs the first weekend in February. Parking is free and you can also tour DC when you're in town.

couldn't agree more. Good elephant room, fantastic concerts. Free parking ...

Nice, but there are so many people here in Texas that seek out these lots, fix up the horns and resell them. If many more people bid, there goes the industry

I've played one. I thought it was good, but that hand angle... hoo boy

Have you played their new Eb? That is the first wessex tuba that I can say I love with no reservations at all.
