Re: Stand Magnets

the most common music stand in the nation is still the Manhasset, which uses a non-ferrous, aluminum desk.

Magnets do not stick to them.

Stand Magnets

I remember seeing people once in a while use magnets outdoors a long time ago but never put two and two together.

Well this morning I saw this, and immediately wanted to "share"...the people marketing them are called "Stand Tray"

Re: Identifying a horn

Wasn’t this system called “Presto”?

I had a Miraphone 188 that had the Presto linkage.

PRESTO!

Additionally the narrow kranz and nickel silver leadpipes etc, were features on the not-particularly-advertised "anniversary model" horns.

Though I don't remember seeing models other than 186 and ...

Re: Looking for a 6/4 5v CC tuba

Hello,
I’m currently studying tuba in college and I’m looking to get a larger horn. I’m currently playing on a Meinl Weston 37 and would be more than happy to trade, but I’m also fine with just paying for the tuba on its own. I would prefer to have 4 pistons and a thumb operated 5th valve. I live ...

30 posts and a dozen different ideas of whats what and what's to come. My favorite was the one saying sleepy Joe was already working on "it." Honorable mentions to the nascent debate between a couple of my favorites from the PNW. I can hardly wait for another page of reading. Think we'll get it ...

Re: It has begun...

Best thing I EVER did was pay my first house off in ten years, and save up enough to where I paid off my second one in two years, my third and current one in one year. Best thing EVER. I drove grubby used cars, didn't eat out, etc., shopped at thrift stores, and it was worth it.

My kinda girl ...

The REAL 2.0 to be worried about is another housing/real estate bubble. 2/3 of all aggregate household wealth is tied up in mortgages, right now probably 1/4 of that is (or should be) being re-financed right now. Be grateful that is happening whether you want to talk about it or not

Re: Bill Roper's tubas... gone

That really sucks, for years when I'd visit Pasadena for work at JPL I'd drive through Altadena just to escape the stunning traffic jams on those fabled L.A. freeways. It was every bit the best example of a working man's paradise right there in So Cal. Beautiful community. The video discussion ...

Re: Playing Stands… WTH?

I tried them even though I never had the issues others used these stands to solve. The stands never worked for me either, when I am home I use one of those older oak/ash chairs...I have one with a padded red velour seat that is totally collapsed but suits me just fine as my "tuba chair." I really ...

Re: What isn't "Fountains" programmed more often?

My last year of collitch got to play Pini with our university orchestra and a few years later with a community orchestra on the peninsula. I remember wondering if I'd ever get the chance to play Fountains and so I got a couple recordings to check it out; honestly didn't care whether I'd ever play it ...

Re: Something important that has become lost due to wide recording dispersion

This thread has me remembering going to discount records to buy two or three different CDs of scheduled music for our upcoming programs. Each were certainly different and the differences were an enhancement to learning the works using those different recordings, often as background music in the car ...
